Phnom Penh (FN), Dec. 5 – Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet stated that the six priority policy programs set by the seventh-mandate Royal Government have been successfully implemented in just over three months, ensuring benefits for the people.

The premier spoke on Tuesday morning (Dec. 5) during the official launching of the new policy of the National Social Assistance Program at Sokha Phnom Penh Hotel.

Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet underlined that in the past, the Royal Government has launched a series of social protection policies that have significantly assisted many people, particularly in response to challenges including COVID19, inflation, and other issues. The Royal Government remains committed to the principle that the social protection system provided to the people must be continuously strengthened to enhance effectiveness and address the needs of the people promptly, especially those requiring social assistance.

"The third priority announced today is the concluding aspect of the six policy priorities and five key rules outlined in the principles to promote the interests of the people, ensure economic growth, create jobs, especially maintain equity, and directly intervene for those in need in all forms", Samdech Thipadei underscored.

On the occasion, the premier continued that the Royal Government has implemented numerous policies aimed at assisting the private sector, civil servants, workers, and farmers.

In addition, Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet added that the Royal Government has established a specific national social protection policy to promptly address evolving situations. To ensure long-term effectiveness, the government has introduced various mechanisms, including the National Social Protection Council, the Social Security Regulator, and the National Social Security Fund (NSSF).

"Therefore, the announcement of the policy program and the implementation of the two documents we plan to unveil today are crucial elements in prioritizing policy, institutionalization, and reinforcement. Our goal is to establish a lasting system to safeguard the interests of our people,”, Samdech Thipadei underlined.

The premier added that to assist to the best of their ability, the Royal Government is committed to supporting the people within the constraints of the national budget. The government continuously seeks ways to reassure the public that it is unwavering in its dedication to the welfare of the people.

The six priority policy programs are outlined as follows:

1. Provision of health care towards a global health coverage program.

2. Provision of vocational and technical training for young individuals from poor and vulnerable families nationwide.

3. Establishment of a national social assistance program for poor families, vulnerable groups in poor households, and vulnerable families in times of economic crisis and emergency.

4. Launching and promoting the implementation of the informal economic development strategy to be able to participate in the formal economy and be able to benefit from the formal social protection system.

5. Introduction of coordination mechanisms and financing programs aimed at boosting production, marketing and maintaining balance of key agricultural prices at a reasonable level.

6. Deployment of technical officers to provide agricultural services to all rural communes throughout the country, along with the establishment of farmers' associations in rural areas.
