Hanoi (FN), Dec. 11 – Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet affirmed that the new Cambodian Royal Government, led by Samdech Thipadei himself, continued to build good relations with Viet Nam for the benefit of both nations.

The premier paid a courtesy call on Vuong Dinh Hue, President of the National Assembly of Viet Nam, on Monday afternoon (Dec. 11) in Hanoi.

During the meeting, Vuong Dinh Hue warmly welcomed the first official visit of Hun Manet as Cambodian prime minister and a high-level delegation of the Royal Government of Cambodia to Viet Nam.

President Vuong Dinh Hue also congratulated Samdech Thipadei on his election as the Vice President of the Cambodian People's Party (CPP) at the 44th Central Committee Meeting of the CPP. He also congratulated the CPP for receiving overwhelming support, as reflected in the recent results of the national election in July 2023.

The president of the National Assembly of Viet Nam also underscored that through Samdech Thipadei's visit on this occasion, it has significantly contributed to strengthening the traditional cooperation between Cambodia and Viet Nam in various fields. He expressed optimism that under the guidance of Cambodian King Norodom Sihamoni and the wise leadership of Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet, Cambodia will continue to progress toward achieving the vision of becoming an upper-middle-income country by 2030 and a high-income country by 2050.

During the meeting, Vuong Dinh Hue also recalled positive experiences from attending the AIPA (The 43rd ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary Assembly) hosted by the Cambodian National Assembly, as well as the opportunity to pay a courtesy call on Samdech Techo Hun Sen in November 2022.

In response, Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet expressed gratitude for the warm welcome from the president of the National Assembly of Viet Nam. He highlighted the enduring and traditional relationship between both countries over the past 56 years of diplomatic ties.

Cambodian premier also conveyed greetings from President of Cambodian National Assembly Khuon Sudary to the president of the National Assembly of Viet Nam and thanked for the support of the Vietnamese counterpart.

On the occasion, Samdech Thipadei also underscored Cambodia's foreign policy, highlighting that the foreign policy of the Royal Government of Cambodia is sustainable and consistent. He affirmed that Cambodia-Viet Nam relations will continue to foster friendships and enhance cooperation between institutions at all levels, encompassing both the legislature and the executive branch, as well as people-to-people contacts to ensure mutual benefits for both nations.
