Tokyo (FN), Dec. 19 – Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet encouraged Japanese companies to invest in Cambodia's agricultural sector, highlighting the opportunity to produce goods for sale not only in Cambodia but also in neighbouring countries.

The premier received a courtesy call by the President of Meiji Co., Ltd and Director of Meiji Holdings Co., Ltd Katsunari Matsuda on Tuesday morning (Dec. 19) in Tokyo, Japan.

During the meeting, Katsunari Matsuda expressed gratitude to Samdech Thipadei for granting him and his delegation the opportunity to pay a courtesy call. He provided updates on the progress and expansion of Meiji Co., Ltd's business activities, discussing both product diversification and future investments in modern technology within Cambodia.

President of Meiji Co., Ltd also conveyed appreciation to the Royal Government of Cambodia for facilitating favourable conditions for the smooth operation of the company's business.

For his part, Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet welcomed the meeting with Katsunari Matsuda and his delegations and expressed his pleasure to Meiji for expressing its interest and plans to invest in Cambodia in the future.

Samdech Thipadei underlined that the Royal Government of Cambodia has been paying attention to developing knowledgeable, skilled, and healthy human resources, with a top priority being the provision of high-quality and safe food.

During the meeting, Samdech Thipadei encouraged companies to invest in agriculture by engaging in direct production for the Cambodian market and exporting to neighbouring countries and the wider region, where there is high demand for these products. He also urged companies to contribute to the training of Cambodian human resources in agricultural skills, aiming to enhance productivity in this sector.

Samdech Thipadei also underscored that the Royal Government of Cambodia is committed to ensuring a conducive environment for business and investment sustainability. This commitment involves the introduction of new policies, implementation mechanisms, and legal frameworks that facilitate and provide favourable and attractive incentives for investors choosing to invest in Cambodia.
