Phnom Penh (FN), Dec. 21 – Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet received a courtesy call by Chinese Vice Minister of Education Wu Yan on Wednesday (Dec. 20) at the Peace Palace.

Wu Yan thanked Samdech Thipadei for taking the time to allow him and his delegation to pay a courtesy call. He also briefed the fruitful results of the meeting with Cambodian Minister of Education, Youth and Sport Hang Chuon Naron to strengthen and expand cooperation in the field of education, especially the continuation of scholarships offered for Cambodian students to study in China and the continuation of cooperation in the field of vocational training align with the labour market demand in Cambodia.

For his part, Samdech Thipadei welcomed Wu Yan and his delegation to pay an official visit to Cambodia and to attend the inauguration ceremony of CamTech University, which reaffirmed the close cooperation between Cambodia and China.

The premier also praised the fruitful outcome of the meeting between the Chinese vice minister of Education and the Cambodian minister of Education, Youth and Sports and mentioned that the Royal Government set human resource development as a top priority and focused on building human capital with knowledge and good health, as well as a series of reforms to strengthen the system and quality of education, vocational and technical training for young people from poor and vulnerable families for 1.5 million individuals nationwide.

In addition, the Royal Government has launched some programs, such as the STEM program, to help orient students with key skills for the job market.

During the meeting, Premier Hun Manet expressed gratitude to the Government and the Ministry of Education of the People's Republic of China for expanding scholarship opportunities for Cambodian students to pursue their studies in China. Samdech Thipadei welcomed the continued close cooperation between the Cambodia-China Ministry of Education and universities from both countries.
