Sihanoukville (FN), Dec. 22 – Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet advised the timely completion of port construction for goods transfer by 2024 to capitalize on the potential in the transportation sector, speaking on Friday (Dec. 22) during a groundbreaking ceremony for the expansion of Sihanoukville Autonomous Port.

"I would like to request that the construction be finished before the end of this month to ensure the implementation of the port arrangement for goods transfer [...] This expansion potential will significantly contribute to national economic growth," the premier underscored.

On the occasion, Samdech Thipadei highlighted that the expansion's benefits extend beyond national economic growth, adding its role in increasing employment opportunities and providing additional income for workers at the Sihanoukville Autonomous Port.

Furthermore, Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet asserted that this outcome aligns with the Royal Government's aspirations, serving as a testament to be shared with the local people.

Premier Hun Manet also highlighted that the operational port stands as a crucial point, serving as the lifeblood for both foreign and domestic trade. This development is poised to catalyse economic activities in various provinces, fostering growth in transportation and all other associated sectors.
