Phnom Penh (FN), Jan. 7 – Cambodian People’s Party (CPP) President, Samdech Techo Hun Sen underlined that 7 January 2024 marks the 45th Anniversary of the January 7 Victory Day over the Khmer Rouge Genocidal Regime, which revived Cambodian people from the massacre.

Samdech Techo spoke on Sunday morning (Jan. 7) at the 45th Anniversary of January 7 Victory Day at Diamond Island Convention and Exhibition Center, Phnom Penh.

Samdech Techo Hun Sen underscored that the January 7 Victory Day restored all the rights and freedoms that were completely lost during the Khmer Rouge Genocidal Regime. Cambodia's darkest era paved way to a new era of independence, peace, freedom, democracy, and social progress.

With this historic victory, the CPP has successfully led the country through tens of thousands of obstacles and difficulties in the cause of protecting the people's resurrection, rebuilding, and reconstructing the nation. Finally, Cambodia has emerged from a state of devastation and reached a stage of development in all areas under the shadow of the proudest peace.

Samdech Techo Hun Sen underlined that the celebration of the 45th anniversary of this historic day is in the spirit of always remembering the crimes committed by the Khmer Rouge Genocidal Regime against the motherland and the people of Cambodia. Additionally, it is a constant remembrance of the most precious merits of the cadres of the Kampuchean United Front for National Salvation and the heroes of the Vietnamese volunteer soldiers who fought valiantly to overthrow the Khmer Rouge Genocidal Regime and prevent its return.

At the same time, the CPP president would like to pay respects to the souls of the more than three million compatriots who lost their lives in the most brutal and unjust way under this oppressive regime, and dedicate prayers to their souls.

Samdech Techo added that the anniversary of the January 7 Victory Day this year was celebrated in a situation where the Kingdom of Cambodia has achieved new great achievements in all fields after overcoming the COVID19 crisis. Cambodia successfully reopened the country in late 2021 and continued to move forward with confidence on the path of peace, democracy, rule of law, and development.
