Phnom Penh (FN), Jan. 9 – Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet expressed his appreciation to the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports for its successful collaboration with relevant ministries and institutions in organizing the National High School Examination for the 2022-2023 academic year. The examination went smoothly and achieved commendable results.

The premier spoke on Tuesday (Jan. 9) during his meeting with Grade A high school students at OCIC, Phnom Penh.

"I commend the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports for its excellent collaboration with the Ministry of Interior, the Ministry of Health, National Gendarmerie, the Anti-Corruption Unit, the Union Youth Federations of Cambodia, and Electricite du Cambodge (EDC), Capital-Provinces, and other stakeholders in the preparation and operation of the 2022-2023 National High School Examination and the Technical and Vocational Certificate 3. The process went smoothly and achieved commendable results," Samdech Thipadei underscored.

On the occasion, Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet underlined the remarkable progress made through the reform initiated in 2014. This reform spanned almost ten years, and during the initial phase, the pass rate was less than 20 per cent.

Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet stated that by 2023, the pass rate had increased to more than 70 per cent, with nearly 1,700 students achieving an A grade. This signifies the sustainability of the reform, demonstrating that Cambodian society supports and embraces the new exam culture, marking a collective success.

Such achievements would not be sustainable without the participation and support of people from all walks of life, the premier added.

At the same time, Samdech Thipadei expressed gratitude to the working groups of the Royal Government of Cambodia and the Cambodian People's Party (CPP) in the capitals and provinces for their involvement in promoting the exam process. They have created conducive conditions for exam preparation and collaborated with the Royal Government to build an environment that supports schools across various localities.

Please be informed that the National High School Examination was held on 6 November 2023, with a total of 98,460 students. Among them, 1,673 students received an A grade, 6,964 received a B, 18,308 received a C, 34,246 received a D, and 37,269 received an E.
