Phnom Penh (FN), Jan. 11 – Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet reminded women selling or promoting products online to uphold the value and dignity of Cambodian women.

The premier spoke on Thursday (Jan. 11) during the closing of 2023 annual meeting of the Ministry of Women’s Affairs at Sokha Phnom Penh Hotel.

Samdech Thipadei underscored, "While the rights and freedoms of the people, including women's rights, are upheld, there is an obligation to preserve and protect social, cultural, and traditional values, especially those of Cambodian women."

On the occasion, the premier underlined that Cambodia, regardless of its development, must preserve its identity. While endorsing free-market policies, he acknowledged that some democratic practices vary, it needs to be universally applicable standards that respect fundamental values.

Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet also conveyed a message that, despite technological advancements and diverse ways of product promotion through social media, creating pornographic content is unnecessary for attracting buyers. Therefore, he advised against excessive advertising. Various content is created to capture public attention, but some of it appears excessive and potentially harmful to society.

At the same time, Samdech Thipadei instructed the Ministry of Women's Affairs to monitor activities of certain women that might impact the cultural and moral values of Cambodian women.
