Paris (FN), Jan. 15 – Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet said that in 2026, Cambodia will host the Francophonie summit, as Cambodia has already nominated and gained support from the French President.

The premier spoke during a meeting with the Cambodian community living in Europe on 14 January 2024 in Paris, France.

"We are also the Francophonie country, and I have good news for Cambodia. In 2026, we will become a host country. We are applying to host the Francophonie summit. French President Emmanuel Macron also support us. Therefore, this is our pride as a part of the Francophonie country,” the premier underscored.

Samdech Thipadei added that there are not many Francophonie countries in Southeast Asia, namely Cambodia, Laos and Viet Nam. Cambodia is the most active, while the kingdom also continues to expand, especially in terms of security, culture, and diplomatic relations to promote opportunity and relations between the countries.
