Phnom Penh (FN), Jan. 29 – Indonesian Ambassador to Cambodia Santo Darmosumarto met with the Vice President of Cambodia Chamber of Commerce (CCC) Lim Heng Monday (Jan 29) at the CCC headquarters in Phnom Penh.

“I am proud that Indonesia has become Cambodia’s No. 6 trading partner in 2023. At the same time, I do believe that there remains ample room for further developing bilateral economic partnership”, conveyed Ambassador Santo during the meeting. He added that in order to pursue this goal, the Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia in Phnom Penh will be organizing a number of promotional activities this year.

The first promotion activity is a health and beauty fair, which will likely take place in Phnom Penh and Sihanoukville in June 2024.

“Indonesian health products are becoming more well-received by Cambodian consumers. We believe that there is tremendous potential for Indonesian producers, especially in the herbal and traditional medicine sector,” said Ambassador Santo.

The health and beauty fair will serve as a warm-up event before the organizing of Sousday Indonesia, a mega event to promote trade, investment, and tourism, which will be held in Phnom Penh in September 2024. “The event is expected to be draw participation from as many as 100 Indonesian and Cambodian companies,” the ambassador added. He is keen for CCC members to be part of this momentous occasion.

The Embassy will also invite a large delegation of Cambodian businesses to join Indonesia’s biggest international trade fair in October 2024. On the sideline of the expo, there are plans to a forum on opportunities in infrastructure cooperation.

Vice President Lim Heng conveyed the commitment of CCC to support the Embassy’s efforts in promoting bilateral trade, investment, and tourism cooperation. All in all, there is a firm belief that efforts will be carried out by both governments to further encourage interactions among two countries’ private sector, including collaboration between CCC and the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce in Cambodia.
