Phnom Penh (FN), Jan. 30 – Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet underlined that preserving the interests of the next generation holds paramount importance, adding that the conservation of the Tonle Sap Lake, the largest freshwater lake, is not only integral to our national identity, but also for the well-being of future generations.

The premier spoke on Tuesday (Jan. 30) at the closing of the annual meeting of the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries at the Ministry.

Samdech Thipadei added that safeguarding the flooded forest area around the Tonle Sap Lake is not for the short-term benefit of any individual but for the enduring benefit of Cambodia in the long run.

On the occasion, Samdech Thipadei urged the governors of the six provinces surrounding the Tonle Sap Lake to actively participate in safeguarding the Tonle Sap Lake Conservation Areas.
