Phnom Penh (FN), Feb. 2 – Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet instructed the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries and the National Committee for Disaster Management and other relevant institutions to prepare drought response plans for the coming dry season.

The premier presided over the weekly cabinet meeting, held on Friday morning (Feb. 2) at the Peace Palace.

Additionally, Samdech Thipadei recommended a thorough inspection and restoration of the irrigation system to the maximum extent possible.

At the same time, Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet expressed gratitude to the relevant authorities for their prompt intervention in addressing the issue of water scarcity for dry farming in certain areas.

According to the Ministry of Water Resources and Meteorology, the forecast for the dry season of 2024 indicated a gradual increase in temperatures from February to May, reaching extreme heat levels in April through early May.
