Phnom Penh (FN), Feb. 2 – The Royal Government of Cambodia approved two draft sub-decrees and one draft law during the weekly cabinet meeting chaired by Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet on Friday morning (Feb. 2) at the Peace Palace.

The two sub-decrees and draft law are as follows:

- Draft Law on Inland Water Transport, comprising 18 chapters and 275 articles, delineates the management and development of Cambodia's waterway and seaport sector. Its primary objectives include maintaining order, ensuring safety and security in inland waterway transport, constructing and maintaining relevant infrastructure, and contributing to environmental protection. The law aims to provide investment opportunities, promote fair competition, uphold equity and transparency, thereby serving both national and international trade and supporting overall national economic development.

- Draft sub-decree on the amended sub-decree on the organisation and functioning of Cambodia's Board of Study, Marketing and Tourism Promotion. During the 19th Government-Private Sector Forum (G-PSF) on November 2023, Samdech Thipadei presented key initiatives and measures to address tourism issues, assigning the Ministry of Tourism to restructure its role and the task of the Board of Directors to study the marketing and promotion of tourism in Cambodia by establishing a mechanism for monitoring and evaluation in the form of the Public Private Partnership (PPP).

- Draft sub-decree on the organization and functioning of the Secretary of State for Border Affairs, consisting of 13 chapters and 37 articles, aligns with the provisions of the Law on the Establishment of the Secretariat of State for Border Affairs. The law was approved by the legislature and promulgated by Royal Kram No. NS / RKAM / 1023/018 dated 5 October 2023.
