Phnom Penh (FN), Feb. 6 – Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet stated that Cambodia, along with other countries worldwide, is grappling with a global crisis. This situation necessitates the Royal Government's focused efforts to realize the vision set forth by Samdech Techo Hun Sen which aims to elevate Cambodia to an upper middle-income status by 2030 and a high-income status by 2050.

The premier spoke on Tuesday (Feb. 6) at the annual meeting of the Ministry of Social Affairs, Veterans and Youth Rehabilitation at the Ministry.

Samdech Thipadei underscored, "Cambodia, as well as other countries in the world, have been affected by geopolitical conflicts, wars, climate change, infectious diseases and many other issues. Vulnerable situations including substance abuse, human trafficking, elderly care, disability and domestic violence and child abuse are all issues that need to be addressed by the Royal Government to improve the lives and well-being of the people to achieve the vision of Samdech Techo Hun Sen to transform Cambodia into an upper middle-income country by 2030 and a high-income country by 2050."

With the vision that embodies the aspirations of every Cambodian citizen, Samdech Thipadei underlined that the seventh-mandate Royal Government, under the leadership of the Cambodian People's Party, is committed to consistently, effectively, and equitably implementing the social protection system in Cambodia. This commitment is aimed at sustainability and is founded on the principle of not leaving any citizen behind. The government intervenes to support impoverished families, vulnerable groups, and disadvantaged families.

On the occasion, Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet added that the overarching policy of all government mandates is to foster national prosperity by enabling the people to thrive, alleviating poverty, and enhancing the quality of life for all citizens.

In addition, the premier underlined the significance of the win-win policy initiated by Samdech Techo Hun Sen to end the civil war and achieve peace and national unity. This policy has created the essential environment for Cambodia to thrive through strategies like the Triangle Strategy and the Pentagon Strategy. The poverty rate has been reduced from over 50 per cent in 1997 to 17 per cent by 2024.
