Phnom Penh (FN), Feb. 6 – Thai Defense Minister Sutin Klungsang announced that the Thai government will not permit ill-intended individuals who wanted to protest during Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet's visit. He deemed such gatherings illegal and Thailand will not tolerate movements against neighboring countries on its territory.

Sutin Klungsang spoke to the press in Thailand on Tuesday (Feb. 6).

He confirmed the Thai government's stance against Cambodian protesters planning activities during Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet's visit to Thailand. He stated, "We do not allow illegal activities in our country."

Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet will pay an official visit to Thailand on 7 February 2024 at the invitation of Thai Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin. Prior to the visit, Thai authorities reportedly apprehended several Cambodians residing and working illegally in Thailand.

Numerous Cambodian monks, businessmen, traders, and workers, alongside Thais, released a video extending a warm welcome to Prime Minister Hun Manet. The two nations are experiencing growth, particularly in fostering mutual benefits between the Cambodian and Thai peoples.

Thai Minister of Defense Sutin Klungsang asserted that authorities are monitoring Cambodian opposition activities in Thailand. He underlined, "Thai intelligence and information police are investigating the case, and Thailand will not permit foreigners to utilize Thai territory for political movements against other countries, which is strictly prohibited by Thai law."

He warned, "If we observe such actions, we will take measures accordingly."

During the visit, Samdech Thipadei and the first lady will granted a Royal Audience by Lated Thai King Moha Vijiralongkorn Phra Vaijiraklaochaoyuhua. Samdech Thipadei will pay separate courtesy calls on leaders of the Thai parliament including the President of Senate Pornpetch Wichitcholchai, and Present of the National Assembly and Speaker of the House of Representatives Wanmuhamadnoor Matha.

Samdech Thipadei and Prime Minister Srettha will hold talks on bilateral and multilateral cooperation in areas of common interest. They will also preside over the signing of numerous documents on bilateral cooperation. In addition, Samdech Thipadei will deliver opening remarks at the Cambodia-Thailand Business Forum.

The visit is expected to consolidate the enduring ties and traditional bonds of friendship between the two countries, guided by the spirit of their Enhanced Partnership for Peace and Prosperity, bringing mutual benefits for the two peoples as well as peace, stability, and prosperity for the ASEAN Community and beyond.
