Bangkok (FN), Feb. 7 – Thai President of the Senate Pornpetch Wichitcholchai expressed his hope that the relations and cooperation between Cambodia and Thailand will improve under the leadership of Cambodian Prime Minister, Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet.

Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet met Thai Senate President Pornpetch Wichitcholchai on Wednesday (Feb. 7) during the official visit to Thailand.

During the meeting, Pornpetch Wichitcholchai warmly welcomed Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet on his first official visit to Thailand. He also recalled the good cooperation between the two countries in the past.

The Senate president expressed confidence that under the leadership of Samdech Thipadei, Cambodia-Thailand cooperation would be further strengthened and expanded. At the same time, he also expressed pleasure in being informed that Khuon Sudary had been elected as the President of the National Assembly of Cambodia. The president also conveyed regards to Samdech Techo Hun Sen.

For his part, Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet expressed his pleasure at the working meeting on this occasion and highly appreciated the good cooperation within the framework of the legislative and executive institutions between the two countries. The premier also briefed on the outcome of the meeting with the Thai prime minister, particularly the elevation of bilateral relations from "Partnership for Peace and Prosperity" to "Strategic Partnership".

On the occasion, Samdech Thipadei underlined that the cooperation between Cambodia and Thailand would be further strengthened in many areas of common interest, including trade and investment, energy security, demining, education, tourism, and the fight against transnational crime.
