Phnom Penh (FN), Feb. 8 – The Royal Government of Cambodia will open another Consulate General in Songkhla, Thailand, while the Royal Government of Thailand will also set up a new Consulate General in Siem Reap.

Jean François Tan, Minister Delegate attached to the Prime Minister spoke at a press conference on 7 February 2024 after Samdech Thipadei concluded his official visit to Thailand.

"Cambodia and Thailand have announced the strengthening of diplomatic relations, with Cambodia establishing a Consulate General in Songkhla and Thailand establishing a Consulate General in Siem Reap," Jean François Tan underscored.

The minister delegate underlined that the primary objective of this initiative was to facilitate consular affairs and enhance trade, investment, and tourism between the peoples of the two countries. "These are the political and diplomatic achievements of Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet's visit to Bangkok," he added.

Please be informed that the diplomatic relations between Cambodia and Thailand were officially established on 19 December 1950. According to Jean François Tan, Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet has initiated a new chapter in the history of Cambodia-Thailand relations, with the two countries elevating their relationship to a "Strategic Partnership."
