Melbourne (FN), Mar. 3 – Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet mentioned that agricultural officials deployed by the Royal Government to the provinces, districts, and communes must carry out their duty at their respective assigned places to provide essential support to farmers.

The premier spoke on Sunday (Mar. 3) during his meeting with Cambodians in Australia and New Zealand.

"The officials deployed to provinces, districts, and communes must fulfil their responsibilities and remain stationed there to support local farmers. The Royal Government provides this opportunity to serve the needs of our citizens, and it is essential for officials to carry out their duties diligently. Recruitment is conducted to select individuals who are committed to this task," the premier underscored.

Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet said that deploying agricultural technical officers in all communes is important because farmers need technology to compete. Samdech Thipadei continued that in the past, in some places, some organizations helped, but was not sufficient.

On the occasion, the premier pointed out that in rural areas or other provinces, agriculture does not only refer to rice fields; even the area around Phnom Penh, which forms the green belt, encourages the green belt to grow crops to supply tourism rather than importing vegetables.

Premier Hun Manet added that the Royal Government recruited 250 officials in 87 districts and plans to recruit an additional 800 for 800 communes in the second phase in April 2024.
