Phnom Penh (FN), Mar. 11 – Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet presided over the opening ceremony of Digital Government Forum and Digital Technology Expo at Diamond Island Convention and Exhibition Centre on Monday (Mar. 11).

On that occasion, Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet underlined that the forum would include discussions. As an additional contribution to the discussions, Samdech Thipadei recommended five key points include as follow:

1. Responding to the rapid evolution of digital technologies, particularly Generative Al, has, on one hand, spurred innovation and boosted productivity, and on the other hand, has resulted in an increased flow of private and public data across borders, raising concerns about commercial predominance, privacy breaches, and cybersecurity threats.

2. Further refining relevant policy measures and the implementation of digital government transformation by adopting the "Open Whole-of-Government Approach" and ensuring openness for all stakeholders’ participation.

3. Harmonising policies, regulations, and standards among countries in the region to facilitate trade and digital services and strengthen the sharing of knowledge and experiences.

4. Identifying key drivers for building digital human capital and exploring ways to accelerate citizens' ability to adopt and use digital technology.

5. Strengthening regional mechanisms to respond to cybersecurity and cybercrime such as online scams and misinformation (fake news).

On the occasion, Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet expressed hope that the opening of the Digital Government Forum would proceed smoothly and encouraged active participation in discussions to yield fruitful results.

Please be informed that digital technology plays a pivotal role in this era of digital revolution, fostering economic and social development. Since Samdech Techo Hun Sen's leadership, the Royal Government of Cambodia has outlined a digital economy and society policy.

In the new legislature, led by Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet, the Royal Government's work on digital technology has become clearer in the Pentagon 5 of the Pentagonal Strategy-Phase I, which focuses on development of digital economy and society.

Based on the above spirit, the Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications has organised the "Digital Government Forum 2024". The forum's objectives include sharing experiences of the digital government revolution, strengthening and expanding cooperation among regional experts in the digital revolution, and showcasing the achievements of the Cambodian Digital Government Committee established over the past 18 months. These efforts align with the Cambodia Digital Economy and Society Policy Framework 2021-2035 and the Cambodia Digital Government Policy 2022-2035, especially Pentagon 5 of the Pentagon Strategy.

The forum is divided into two sections. The first part showcased workshops, featuring discussions and insights from national and international speakers on policy aspects, trends in digital technology development, sharing experiences, and best practices in accelerating the digital revolution and adopting new technologies. The second part displayed a digital exhibition, presenting digital technologies, products, and solutions catering to digital government needs, with participation from ministries, institutions, and national and international companies.
