Phnom Penh (FN), Mar. 20 – Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet said that program 1 of the Royal Government’s six policy programs is to provide healthcare services aimed at achieving global health coverage, significantly contributing to improving rural health and ensuring nationwide access to comprehensive healthcare.

The premier spoke on Wednesday (Mar. 20) during the closing 2023 annual meeting of the Ministry of Rural Development in Phnom Penh.

"In response to the COVID19 outbreak, the Royal Government has prioritized the implementation of the first program of the six policy programs, which includes (1) expanding the coverage of the Equity Fund program to over 450,000 vulnerable households, benefiting more than 1.5 million members, as announced in October 2023; (2) expanding the healthcare system of the National Social Security Fund (NSSF) to include family members and dependents, reaching over 3 million people," the premier underscored.

"These initiatives will significantly enhance rural healthcare and ensure nationwide access to comprehensive healthcare," the premier added.

Samdech Thipadei mentioned that the Royal Government will continue to exert more efforts to uphold citizens' livelihoods, maintain peace, socio-economic stability, strengthen Cambodia's role in regional and international affairs, and promote cooperation with all partners.
