Phnom Penh (FN), Mar. 23 – Cambodia and Myanmar expressed joint commitment to maintaining relations and cooperation.

Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet received a courtesy call by Ambassador of Myanmar to Cambodia Kyaw Soe Min on Friday afternoon (Mar. 22) at the Peace Palace.

Ambassador Kyaw Soe Min expressed gratitude to the Royal Government of Cambodia for providing assistance to the country and the people of Myanmar during the COVID19 pandemic. He also reiterated the enduring diplomatic ties and cooperation between Cambodia and Myanmar.

On the occasion, the ambassador also expressed his commitment to further strengthen ties and cooperation between the two countries during his diplomatic mission.

For his part, Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet welcomed the presence of Ambassador Kyaw Soe Min and his colleagues and highly appreciated the long-standing diplomatic relations between Cambodia and Myanmar. The premier also congratulated Kyaw Soe Min on his appointment as Ambassador to Cambodia.

Samdech Thipadei also reaffirmed the Royal Government of Cambodia's position on relations with Myanmar. He stated that the seventh-mandate Royal Government of Cambodia will continue to implement the same policy as the previous Royal Government, by continuing to link the relationship and cooperation between Cambodia and Myanmar in both bilateral and multilateral frameworks as well as within the ASEAN framework.

At the same time, the premier also reiterated the need to continue to strengthen ties and cooperation between the two countries in potential areas, including economics, trade, people-to-people contacts.
