Phnom Penh (FN), Apr. 10 – Former board of director of the dissolved opposition party San Sang unveiled the unprofessional leadership of Sam Rainsy as the main factor in the deterioration of the opposition party and Sam Rainsy’s political life is moving towards extinction.

Speaking of the poor leadership of Sam Rainsy, San Sang also recalled the event of Sam Rainsy removing the Cambodia-Viet Nam border marker in 2009, causing him to exile for many years.

Regarding the removal of border markers in Koh Kban village, Samrong commune, Chantrea district, Svay Rieng province on 15 October 2009, San Sang reminded that Rainsy removed the marker to join the Kathen festival at the pagoda near the border.

However, upon arrival at that time, Sam Rainsy, who was then the President of the a political party, proceeded to remove the border marker. San Sang continued that removing the border markers was a mistake. A political party president has no right to remove the border marker. In the worst case, he also brought the border markers to the party headquarters after removing them.

As a result, the Svay Rieng provincial authorities filed a complaint, leading Sam Rainsy to flee abroad until July 2013. Then, he returned to the country after writing an apology letter to Samdech Techo Hun Sen.

Reflecting on this event, San Sang mentioned Rainsy's tendency to operate without clear plans, suggesting that this lack of strategic foresight ultimately led to the downfall of both the opposition movement and Rainsy's political career.
