Phnom Penh (FN), Apr. 26 – Cambodian President of the Senate Hun Sen vowed to build Funan Techo Canal Project for nation and citizens' benefits, regardless the negative reaction from Viet Nam and extremists of the former opposition party.

Samdech Techo spoke on Friday (Apr. 26) during his gala dinner with Cambodian Oknha Association at Garden City Hotel Phnom Penh.

The Senate president also criticised the baseless allegations from the former opposition groups abroad, particularly from Sam Rainsy, who opposed Cambodia's interests by attempting to obstruct the Funan Techo Canal project.

Taking this opportunity, Samdech Techo questioned Vietnamese analysts who claimed that the Funan Techo Canal Project would result in a 70-percent loss of water for Viet Nam. In this sense, Cambodia would be the first country affected by such loss.

On the occasion, Samdech Techo continued that Cambodia is not stupid to allow Chinese troops to deploy on its territory.

In addition, Samdech Techo hoped Viet Nam would understand the benefits of the Funan Techo Canal Project.

Lastly, Samdech Techo urged Cambodian citizens to unite in protecting national interests and called on certain countries to cease their opposition to the Funan Techo Canal Project.
