Phnom Penh (FN), Apr. 26 – Cambodian President of the Senate, Samdech Techo Hun Sen stated that the Funan Techo Canal will help boost fish production, as people will be able to draw water from the canal for aquaculture purposes, ensuring a sustainable livelihood.

Samdech Techo spoke on Friday (Apr. 26) during his gala dinner with Cambodian Oknha Association at Garden City Hotel Phnom Penh.

Samdech Techo Hun Sen continued, "I have mentioned at least four benefits that we will derive from the Funan Techo Canal. It's important for the Cambodian people to understand that we stand to gain significantly from this project. Therefore, let the entrepreneurs, those with capital, contribute to the construction of this canal. In case Cambodia cannot secure capital from external sources, it is imperative that this canal be built with the participation of all."

On the occasion, Samdech Techo underlined that currently, people are unable to engage in aquaculture due to the lack of accessible water. Although there has been encouragement for fish farming, people have responded that there is insufficient water and resources for feeding. Therefore, the construction of the Funan Techo canal will provide convenience for our people.
