Sihanoukville (FN), May 1 – Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet affirmed that the Royal Government does not have plans to raise public funds for Funan Techo Canal Project, speaking on Wednesday (May 1) during his meeting with workers at Sihanoukville Autonomous Port.

"The Funan Techo Canal Project must be constructed. I would like to reiterate that the Royal Government of Cambodia does not have plans to raise public funds,” the premier underscored.

On the occasion, Samdech Thipadei continued that the good-heartedness, goodwill, support, and patriotic spirit of Cambodian citizens are the great forces.

The Funan Techo Canal Project aims to connect waterways between rivers to the sea of Cambodia, passing through Kandal, Takeo, Kampot, and Kep provinces. It is about 180 kilometres long. The project is expected to cost about USD 1.7 billion and has been studied in detail.
