Phnom Penh (FN), July 16 - Investigating judge of the Phnom Penh Municipal Court (PPMC) Ros Piseth, on Monday, ordered Sam Rainsy, a founder of Cambodia National Rescue Movement (CNRM), to appear at the court on 13 August 2018, involving attempts to hand over Cambodian territory to foreigner in accordance with Article 27 and Article 440 of the Penal Code.

Sam Rainsy signed agreement to hand over four Cambodia’s provinces, including Ratanakiri, Mondulkiri, Kratie, Stung Treng to leader of Vietnamese ethnic Degar, according to Facebook of Cambodia National Rescue Party’s activist “Rithy Erng” on 13 March 2018.

Former opposition leader Sam Rainsy admitted on March 7, 2018 in an interview with the Phnom Penh Post that he had indeed signed an agreement with Kok Ksor, the Vietnamese leader of the Degar indigenous group in the United States in 2013.

PPMC’s Prosecutor Sieng Sok also ordered Sam Rainsy to appear at the court on 7 May 2018 to clarify the case, but another procedure will be taken after the convict did not appear in the courtroom.

The court’s order was sticked at ex-CNRP's headquarter in Phnom Penh's Chak Angre on Monday.
