Phnom Penh (FN), Juy 24 - The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (MoFAIC) on Tuesday morning received electronic and IT materials worth $75,585 from the People's Republic of China through the Chinese Embassy in Phnom Penh for the usage at National Institute of Diplomacy and International Relations (NIDIR).

The ceremony was chaired by Senior Minister Prak Sokhonn, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, and Xiong Bo, Ambassador of the People's Republic of China to Cambodia.

The handover of the materials, at the request of the NIDIR proposed to the Embassy of China in Cambodia, aimed at facilitating institutional and officials capacity building and ensure the sustainability of the institute. The Chinese aid is in response to the needs of the institute in building professional capacity of Cambodia's ICT, Digital Economy and Diplomacy, public relations, communication skills, and foreign languages.

The aids reflect Chinese support towards Cambodia's social and economic development, especially in the development of human resources and infrastructure.

The institute, launched in February 2018, is the first diplomatic training institute throughout Cambodia's history of diplomacy. The main objective of the institute is to build a professional capacity in the Cambodian diplomacy in response to the more sophisticated world of diplomacy and rapid global uncertainties.

On July 12, 2018, Chinese ambassador visited the institute and had the honor to deliver a lecture on Cambodia-China relations to the officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and relevant ministries and institutions on the occasion of the 60th anniversary of Cambodia-China diplomacy.
