Phnom Penh (FN), July 30 - Representatives of all international observers from many countries and organizations applauded the successful election of Cambodian parliamentarians after they observed Cambodian electoral process from 27-29 July 2018 in Phnom Penh and other provinces.

The statement was made at a press conference organized by the Civil Society Alliance Forum (CSAF) at Sofitel Phnom Penh on Sunday with the participation from-CDI, French National Assembly Congress, Civil Society Organization, ICAPP, CAPDI, APA, AIPA, coordinated by Kem Roat Viseth, Chairman of the Board of CSAF.

The delegation of the international observers from China confirmed that the sixth mandate election in Cambodia was smooth, fair, and non-violent.

The Nepali international observers expressed their admiration as many Cambodian citizens voted and the election process preceeded smoothly. They felt secure in observing the nation election in Cambodia.

“On the Election Day, our delegation visited 16 polling stations in three different locations. We observed the process of opening the ballot boxes, casting vote, closing stations, and counting the ballots. We observed that the Cambodian voters seems to be enthusiastic to participate in the voting. The voters showed good conduct and discipline during the process,” stated Aminath Eenas, President, Human Rights Commission of Maldives.

“The process of casting vote and ballot counting were conducted without any sign of intimidation, coercion and violence,” he added.

According to a representative of the CDI, the election has been conducted fairly and freely, without any threat or violence. With over 82% voter turnout, CDI expressed their great appreciation of Cambodia's overall success.

The percent of voter turnout has increased from 82.17% to 82.89% in the 6th National Assembly members election in 2018. The figure grows significantly compared to 69.6% of voter turnout in 2013 election, according to Dim Sovannarom, National Election Committee spokesman on Monday.
