Phnom Penh (FN), August 17 – Following the announcement of the election result, the United Kingdom seemed not to express concern on the recent electoral process of the Cambodian general election 2018, however, announced to strengthen relations with the Royal Government of Cambodia, led by the ruling Cambodian People’s Party.

Eang Sophalleth, personal secretary of the premier, told reporters that at the courtesy call on Prime Minister Hun Sen at the Peace Palace on Friday, British Ambassador to Cambodia Tina Susan Redshaw discussed with Cambodian premier on trade relations, technology, mine action, women’s rights promotion, and education.

Ambassador Tina said she had received the warmest hospitality in her six-week mission to Cambodia and that in her next mission, she will do all her best to strengthen UK-Cambodia relations,” said Eang Sophalleth.

Prime Minister thanked the UK and her people for the aids to Cambodia, particularly on education and human resources training, which is a key element for Cambodia’s development.

The premier hoped that UK will strengthen mine action cooperation with ASEAN Regional Mine Action Center – ARMAC based in Cambodia that extends the assistance to the region and the world under the framework of the United Nations.

Regarding the promotion of women's rights, Prime Minister highlighted that Cambodia has promoted women’s roles in the Royal Government from provincial level to military and police sectors, as well as in other institutions. In addition, the Royal Government has also built schools and dormitories for women; introduced social protection policies that support women, especially Cambodian workers, during and after their pregnancies.
