Phnom Penh (FN), August 22 – Supreme Court again denied complaint for release on bail of former opposition party president Kem Sokha following the second hearing on Wednesday morning.

The court's decision was based on the fact that Sokha's case is a criminal offense, thus required to be interrogated and prevented him from committing further crimes.

Kem Sokha was arrested at his house in Toul Kok, Phnom Penh at 00:35 am on 3 September 2017.

Sokha appeared in a video to initiate plans to topple the government. His act violated criminal code and is subject to a penalty of 15 to 30 years in prison.

He is detained in Tropang Phlong prison in Tbong Khmum province.
