Switzerland (FN), Oct. 24 – Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen said that if his eldest son, Hun Manet, is supported by people to serve as the Prime Minister, then let him be, addressing in a meeting with 900 Cambodian students in Switzerland on 23 October 2018.

The statement was made after a newspaper reported that the Premier had pushed Hun Manet, today serving as Cambodian army commander, to be the Prime Minister.

"If I, his father, is the Prime Minister, why does my son have to compete for this position? It’s not logical,” Prime Minister Hun Sen asked.

"Our country is democratic, and I do not know about my destiny. If one is suitable for the premiership, one should serve it,” added the premier.

The Strongman emphasized that he did not wish to have his children involved with politics, but he has no rights to stop them.

“My granddaughter is studying politics,” he said.
