Phnom Penh (FN), May 30 – Cambodia Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation reported that the Cambodian Embassy and the Indonesian authorities, in cooperation with the International Organization for Migration (IOM), are undertaking repatriation of the 54 Cambodian victims of human trafficking from Pontianak Island, Indonesia, in two batches.

According to a report by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs made available to the press today, the first batch of 27 workers are scheduled to arrive at Phnom Penh International airport on May 30, 2016, at around 5:10 pm on MH762 while the second batch will arrive on June 6, 2016 at the same time of 5:10 pm on MH762.

Cambodia Embassy in Indonesia has recently intervened in the case of a Cambodian woman, Heng Tauch, 26, from Kandieng District, Pursat province, who had been employed as a housekeeper in Malaysia since October 11, 2011, under the arrangement of a labor firm known as PH in Cambodia and another firm in Malaysia, Law &CHEW. The woman went to seek help from the Embassy on May 14, 2016 to be returned home.

With the assistance and coordination by the Embassy, the woman’s employer in Malaysia agreed to provide her the full amount of severance pay and to pay for an air-ticket for her. Heng Tauch finally arrived at Phnom Penh International Airport on May 29, 2016 at 3:55 pm on AK534.
