TOKYO, Jan. 12 (Xinhua) -- Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe is leaving for a six-day tour to the Philippines, Indonesia, Vietnam and Australia on Thursday.
Prior to his departure, Abe told media that he is planning to hold talks with the leaders of each country on issues concerning economic ties and security.
Abe is hoping to gain assurances from countries involved in the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) agreement so that the pact can take effect.
The Japanese leader will meet with Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte later on Thursday and Friday; Saturday will see him meet with Australian Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull in Sydney, and from there he will fly to Indonesia and Vietnam, officials here said.
