Phnom Penh (FN), Feb 4 – Three days after the government took decision on new entrance fee, the amount of tickets sold is 9,268, an equivalent to $446,446.

The figure indicated that the number of tourists visiting Angkor Archaeological Part is not affected by the increasing entrance fee, according to Minister of Tourism Thong Khon.

“Many tourists from around the globe will visit Angkor. Angkor Wat is still the world’s renowned tourist destination despite the new entrance free,” said the minister.

There were three types of tickets sales to Angkor, for a one-day visit costing $20; 3-day visit costing $40 and 7-day visit costing $60.

However, starting from Feb. 1, 2017, the ticket fee for 1-day visit costs at $37; 3-day visit costs at $62 valid for up to 10 days and 7-day visit costing $72 valid for up to 30 days. $2 from each ticket sold to each foreigner will be kept as donation to Kuntha Bopha hospital, which is providing free medical treatment to Cambodian children.
