Banteay Meanchey (FN), April 20 - Thousands of Cambodian workers enter Thailand for work through the Poipet and Banteay Meanchey border checkpoints.

“I decided to work in Thailand, as I have to earn to continue my education. I will develop Cambodia with my knowledge,” stated Thy Sovan, 21, from Kompong Cham province.

“I illegally migrate to Thailand for several reasons.

A few years ago, I had my first small home. Working in Thailand with my two sons has allowed us to build a bigger house and pay for my three children to study in college.

Therefore, I continue to cross the border,” said Prak Ny, 45, from Kompong Thom province.

According to an authority at the Poipet checkpoint, thousands of workers cross the border to Thailand with proper legal documents and with the assistance of Cambodia-Thai Border officials.

Many migrant workers are waiting to complete paperwork in order to cross into Thailand.
