PHNOM PENH (FN), Jan. 22 — Chinese Embassy in Phnom Penh has claimed that some Chinese businessmen coming to Cambodia have been solicited for unofficial pays by Cambodian immigration police.
The embassy made such claim during a press conference on Jan. 21.
A local Chinese newspaper, Jian Hua, published an article on Jan.21 under the heading: “TIP Money...at Phnom Penh International Airport..."
Political Counsellor at Chinese Embassy in Cambodia, Than Chhing, told reporters that the Embassy had received a lot of complaints from Chinese victims of solicitation and has also submitted Diplomatic Notes to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Immigration General Department.
Than Chhing called on all sides to cooperate on this issue and provide facilitation to visitors coming in and going out of the country.
