Phnom Penh (FN), June 2 – Garment Manufacturing Associations of Cambodia reacted to the request to add more day offs for employees so that they get to vote on Sunday.

The reaction was made when Radio Free Asia publicized an interview released on Thursday concerning the request for more day offs for the election.

“There is no policy for employees to have more day offs during the election”, stated GMAC through the clarification released on Friday.

"Employees can submit the leave form and if it is approved, they can have day offs," it added.

Recently, The Ministry of Labor urged all the factory owners, enterprises, and other institutions to offer favorable condition for their employees to join the 4th mandate Commune-Council Election, which is scheduled to be this Sunday.

Cambodian Labor Law stipulated that employees are allowed to take 18 days off on top of the national festivals.
