PHNOM PENH (FN), Jan. 26 — Prime Minister Hun Sen asked on Jan. 26 that all kinds of goods imported from Cambodia to the United States of America be exempted from tax, a spokesperson said after a meeting at Peace Palace.
In the meeting with the U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry who is on his first visit to Cambodia, the premier said in order to promote trade exchange between the two countries he would like to propose that the U.S. gives tax exemption to all of the goods imported from Cambodia, said Eang Sophalleth, the meeting’s spokesperson.
In his response, Kerry told the premier that he would take that request into further consideration with the U.S. government, added Sophalleth.
The spokesperson also said that the meeting between Prime Minister Hun Sen and John Kerry did not discuss the status of the opposition party leader, Sam Rainsy, nor any human rights issues.
He said Kerry brought up the issues related to South China Sea and that the premier said everybody should abide by the laws.
