Phnom Penh (FN), Jan. 27 – Cambodia-Thai General Border Committee (GBC) will hold its Annual Border Meeting in Bangkok from Jan 28-31, 2016, according to an announcement by the Ministry of National Defense.

The GBC 11th Annual Meeting, to be chaired by Gen. Neang Phat, Cambodia’s Defense Secretary of State, will explore possible solutions and methods to prevent and to combat drug smuggling, human trafficking, and other transnational crimes, thus will contribute to maintaining peace and development along the borders of the two countries, the announcement said.

The meeting is also expected to discuss the status of Cambodians workers and illegal loggers in Thailand, many of whom were shot and killed by Thai border troops, an official of the Ministry of National Defense who asked not to be identified, said.
