Phnom Penh (FN), July 18 - The Department of Communicable Disease Control of the Ministry of Health has called for people to take precautions against dengue fever and take part in efforts in thwarting the disease, as rainy season is coming.
“Dengue fever is spreading in neighboring countries. To prevent our country from contracting this fever, everyone should remove hood shelters, protect children from mosquito bites, and take their children to the hospital immediately if they present symptoms of dengue fever," the Department of Communicable Disease Control said on its Facebook page.
"If you see abnormal fever in your local village, please contact your nearest health officer or report it by telephone at 115”, it added.
"During the first half of 2017, there have been 1,133 cases of dengue fever with one death (0.1% mortality). This shows a decrease of more than 50% in the occurrence of the fever and more than 80% of death, compared to 2016”, according to National Center for Parasitology Entomology and Malaria Control.
Areas susceptible to outbreaks are Phnom Penh, Kampong Speu, Kandal and Koh Kong.
