Phnom Penh (FN), July 24 – General Commisariat of National Police (GCNP) held a meeting today focusing on public safety strategies and implementation for the remainder of 2017.

“During first half of 2017, there were 3,577 documented accidents, which show a decrease of 115 cases or 3% if compared 2016. There were 2,117 deaths, reflecting a decrease of 47 deaths and a total of 3,695 injuries, which has dropped by 855 people from last year,” said National Police Chief of Cambodia, General Neth Savoeun.

The data indicates that 931 died and 3,006 others injured in 1907 traffic accidents.

Explosive remnants killed 6 and injured 21. Fire accident killed 9 and injured 69.

There were also 69 cases of lightning strikes,
killing 45 and injuring 38.

320 died from suicide attempts, and 799 other suffered in various incidents.
