Phnom Penh (FN), Aug. 6 – Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet received a courtesy call from Kihara Minoru, the Japanese Minister of Defence, on 5 August 2024, at the Peace Palace.

During the meeting, the Japanese Minister of Defence briefed Samdech Thipadei on the fruitful cooperation between the Cambodian Ministry of National Defence and the Japanese Ministry of National Defence.

Kihara Minoru noted that under the "Comprehensive Strategic Partnership," Japan will continue to strengthen and expand cooperation with Cambodia, including in the fields of defence and security.

In response, Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet thanked the Government and people of Japan for their support of Cambodia's peace-seeking process and socioeconomic development. The premier praised the defence cooperation between the two countries.

Both sides also discussed the further strengthening and expansion of defence cooperation between the two countries within the framework of the Army, Navy, and Air Force. The collaborations will focus on exchange visits, training, humanitarian demining, and joint exercises on disaster relief.
