PHNOM PENH (FN), Feb. 6 — A truck transporting garment factory workers crashed into a parking lorry in southern Cambodia' s Prey Veng Province early Saturday, leaving two persons dead and 15 others injured, Provincial Police Chief Sreng Chea said.

The accident took place when the truck was carrying the workers from their homes to a garment factory and hit a lorry parking on the road side from the back, he said.

"The truck driver and a worker were killed on the spot, as 15 others got wounded in the crash," he told Xinhua over telephone, adding that all the victims are females, except the driver.

Speeding and neglect driving by the truck driver was blamed for the fatal crash, he said.

Transporting garment factory workers in open trucks to and from factories is common in this Southeast Asian country. Last month, two trucks, carrying garment factory workers, crashed into each other in western Kampong Speu Province, leaving 5 female workers dead and some 68 others injured.
