Vientiane (FN), Oct. 11 – The Chinese government granted approximately 300 million yuan (USD 42 million) to support infrastructure development in Cambodia.

Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet held bilateral talks with Chinese Premier Li Qiang on 10 October 2024 in Vientiane, Laos.

On the occasion, Chinese Premier Li Qiang commended the leadership of Samdech Thipadei for maintaining political stability, ensuring security, and driving strong economic growth, which has enhanced Cambodia's prestige on the international stage.

Premier Li Qiang underlined that China will continue to support Cambodia's development path, tailored to its unique circumstances. The Chinese government will also encourage more Chinese investors to engage in Cambodia. In terms of infrastructure development, China remains committed to supporting Cambodia’s efforts by providing an additional grant of 300 million yuan to help the country achieve its development goals. Furthermore, the premier added that China will work more closely with Cambodia to develop a master plan for the Fish and Rice Corridor—an industrial and technological corridor—with a focus on boosting imports of Cambodian agricultural products into the Chinese market.

For his part, Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet expressed his pleasure in meeting with Premier Li Qiang and extended his gratitude to the Chinese government and people for their continued support of Cambodia's socio-economic development. He also thanked China for the grants provided to enhance infrastructure development in Cambodia.

The two leaders also expressed their satisfaction and appreciation for the strong relations and cooperation between Cambodia and China, which have led to the achievement of a comprehensive strategic partnership, an "iron-clad friendship," and the building of a community with a shared future in the new era. They also agreed to further promote cooperation in several key areas, including clean energy, infrastructure development, and people-to-people connectivity.
