Phnom Penh (FN), September 13 - Senior Minister Serei Kosal, 1st Vice President of the Cambodian Mine Action Center, stated that Cambodia had only about 2,000 square kilometers of land mines left to be cleared by 2025.

The remark was made during a meeting on Tuesday with five Thai delegates, led by general Prasopchai Kongburan, Director of the Thailand Mine Action Center (TMAC).

The senior minister highlighted the authority's mandate as well as the efforts of the government, along with development partners who work actively in response to humanitarian needs and land mines clearance for people to have farmland, settlement, school, pagoda, and other infrastructure.

Senior Minister also requested for exchange visits of the mine sector between the two countries.

He also asked Thai to continue to support on prosthetic leg, as well as the cooperation on mine clearance along the borders of the two countries.

Prasopchai Kongburan highly appreciated the Royal Government of Cambodia's effort on mine clearance activities, both nationally and internationally.
