Poi Pet, Banteay Meanchey (FN), Feb. 10 – Over 100 Cambodian stalls at the border market of Rong Kloeur in Thailand bordering Poi Pet city, 300 km northwest of Phnom Penh, have been closed after the Cambodian vendors had either read in the Thai press or heard on radio of an imminent operation by Thai authorities against products deemed as violating intellectual properties.
The Cambodian vendors as of today are so much worried about their daily business because, should they were to close their stalls even just for three days, then they would have to struggle to pay their stall rental fees and to cover other expenses at the market, and that would be a substantial loss for them. So far, 100 stalls have been closed.
