PHNOM PENH, Feb. 11 (FN) — Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen on Thursday inaugurated the first state-owned university in southeastern country's Tbongkhmum province, saying it was a new achievement for human capital development.
The University of Heng Samrin Tbongkhmum comprises three faculties, namely faculty of agriculture, faculty of engineering, and faculty of literature and humanities.
In addition, it has the institutes of foreign languages, information technology, and technical and vocational training.
Hun Sen said the university will provide convenience to students in the province and surrounding provinces.
"This is a new achievement for the development of human resources, which are the key element for socio-economic development," the premier said.
Cambodia has approximately 110 public and private higher education institutions, which give options to about 50,000 high school graduates every year, according to the Ministry of Education.
