Beijing (FN), Dec. 3 – Wang Huning, Chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), commended Samdech Techo Hun Sen as a valued friend of China and a pivotal leader in advancing Cambodia-China bilateral relations.
Cambodian Senate President, Samdech Techo Hun Sen met Wang Huning, Chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), on 2 December 2024 at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing, China.
At the beginning of the meeting, Wang Huning warmly welcomed Samdech Techo and his delegation, expressing his pleasure at meeting him again since their last encounter in 2016 during President Xi Jinping's state visit to Cambodia.
Wang Huning noted that China and Cambodia have successfully implemented agreements to build a Community with a Shared Future and have worked in unison to strengthen their partnership.
For his part, Samdech Techo Hun Sen thanked Wang Huning for the warm welcome. Samdech Techo said that his visit followed his earlier one in 2023 and aimed to elevate bilateral relations beyond the existing strategic partnership, further fostering the Cambodia-China Community with a Shared Future.
Samdech Techo reiterated Cambodia's unwavering adherence to the One-China policy and reaffirmed Cambodia's status as a steadfast friend of China in all circumstances. He acknowledged China's consistent support for Cambodia’s socioeconomic development and its role in safeguarding Cambodia's political independence.
On that occasion, Samdech Techo also congratulated the 75th anniversary of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, praising its achievements. He expressed optimism for deeper collaboration between the Cambodian Senate and the CPPCC.
Wang Huning praised Samdech Techo’s instrumental contributions to Cambodia-China relations, describing him as a close friend of China and its people. He further praised Cambodia’s next generation of leaders for continuing Samdech Techo’s legacy and assured China’s continued support for Cambodia's policies.
Wang Huning vowed to promote Cambodia's traditions and encourage more Chinese tourists to visit. He highlighted the alignment of China's Belt and Road Initiative with Cambodia's Pentagonal Strategy Phase One to accelerate progress in key areas such as industrial and technological corridors, fisheries, rice production, and modern agriculture.
On that occasion, Samdech Techo and the CPPCC chairman also discussed the evolving and complex regional and international situations.
Additionally, Samdech Techo invited Wang Huning to visit Cambodia again to witness its progress since his last visit in 2016 and to strengthen cooperation between the CPPCC and the Cambodian Senate.
Wang Huning graciously accepted the invitation.
