Phnom Penh (FN), Feb. 11 – According to a copy of a new year statement made available by North Korean Embassy in Cambodia to the press through a senior Cambodian military officer on Feb.11, the Korean leader said that impediment to a reunification of the Korean peninsula was created by the United States of American and its allies.

“The U.S. and its allies are obstructing a reunification of the Korean peninsula. We should reject any foreign intervention and instead try to solve the problems concerning the inter-Korean relationship and reunification. It is not any other but the external forces that have divided our nation. It is no one else but the U.S. and its allies that are obstructing to this reunification” said Kim Jun Un, First Secretary of the Workers’ Party of Korea, Supreme Commander of the Korean People’s Army, and First Chairman of National Defense Commission of the DPRK in his New Year statement dated Jan.1, 2016.

In the two-page statement in Khmer and 10-pages in English, Kim Jung Un stressed that: “The Korean peninsula has become a flashpoint of a nuclear war as a result of the invasion strategy of the U.S. with intent to take control of Asia. Therefore, the U.S. Administration and the South Korean government should refrain from conducting military exercises that could end up with serious disasters and discontinue military provocation that would only worsen the situation of the Korean peninsula.”
