Phnom Penh (FN), Dec. 13 – Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet praised the efforts of the Ministry of Commerce in implementing the Royal Government's strategies and policies, as well as promoting international trade, speaking on Friday (Dec. 13) at the opening of Cambodia Trade Expo 2024 on Friday (Dec. 13) in Phnom Penh.

"I would like to commend the Ministry of Commerce for implementing the Royal Government's strategies and policies to develop Cambodia’s trade sector and promote international trade. This includes: (1) Continuing to diversify markets both domestically and internationally through free trade agreements that Cambodia is a member of, and preferential trading systems that support the diversification of export products; (2) Continuing to facilitate trade, particularly by improving automated public service systems; (3) Maintaining dialogue mechanisms with the private sector; and (4) Reviewing laws and regulations related to the sector to create a favourable investment climate in Cambodia,” the premier underscored.

On the occasion, Samdech Thipadei noted that the Cambodia Trade Expo included significant events, such as the first digital forum, which aligns with the Royal Government’s direction and global trends, and the Cambodia-Korea trade and investment forum. These mechanisms are essential for creating trading opportunities, establishing communication networks, increasing business and investment activities, and promoting Cambodia’s potential products on the international stage, thereby contributing to national economic development.

In addition, the prime minister acknowledged the efforts of Minister of Commerce Cham Nimul, who consistently meets with businesspeople to understand and address real challenges swiftly. He encouraged the minister to continue focusing on resolving issues promptly and to seek higher-level intervention when necessary for unresolved matters.
